“Conversations between Earth and Sky”
I am awed by the beauty of the simple terrain, solitary trees, abandoned homesteads, and expansive sky of the high plains and prairie woodlands. These landscapes are my observations of the “conversations between earth and sky”. I take hundreds of photographs as I travel and then work to translate these in my studio with oil, pastel and watercolor media.
“Sky and Clouds" – I've been inspired by the vast overarching sky of the prairie, awesome storm clouds, and the beautiful color spectrum of sunsets. I try to capture the motion, mystery and strength of cloud formations.
"Prairie Landscapes” – Solitary trees of the prairies seem like dancing ladies. Old cottonwoods brace for wind and cold. The colors and textures of grasses and crops, give life to the flatland and gently rolling hills of the prairie. Homesteads, long vacant, offer mysteries of former lives within.
“Woodland Reflections” – The sheltered canyons and trails of the Black Hills offer a spiritual landscape. Windbreaks, shelter belts, lakeside trees and reflections in water are intriguing subjects.
"Gallery of Collected Works" - A representative sampling of paintings and pastels now in public and private collections.
Description of Artwork:
All artwork is original, one of a kind. I do not make giclees or reproductions of any of my artworks. Unless otherwise noted, subjects are created from my own documentary photography.
My oil paintings are on canvas with sturdy wooden stretchers, wired and ready to hang. Most are gallery wrapped with painted edges and need no additional framing. A few have simple wood lattice frames. Artworks may be reframed by the customer.
Watercolors, drawings, monoprints, and pastels are created on acid-free papers and framed for display, but, for safety reasons, are shipped matted only. Size listed is outside dimensions of archival (white) matting. Image size is also noted for these works. Cost of any prior framing has been deducted from the website prices for these artworks.
Thanks so much for your interest in my artwork. Please contact me if you have additional questions or comments.
